Actor Yoo Ah-in is making headlines once again as he gears up for his role in the upcoming Netflix series ‘Goodbye Earth,’ despite facing allegations of drug consumption in the past.
A Netflix representative addressed the situation to Maeil Business Daily, clarifying that the issue surrounding Yoo Ah-in’s alleged drug consumption occurred during post-production and not while filming. The representative emphasized that the scene involving Yoo Ah-in as a major character underwent discussions and re-editing by the director, writer, and crew to ensure that the storyline remained intact and cohesive.
‘Goodbye Earth’ is based on the novel “The Fool At the End of the World” by Japanese author Kōtarō Isaka. The story is set 200 days before the anticipated end of the world, following the announcement of Earth’s impending doom. Originally slated for release last year, the series faced delays due to Yoo Ah-in’s involvement in a drug scandal.
Yoo Ah-in faced allegations of consuming multiple drugs, including propofol, cannabis, cocaine, ketamine, zolpidem, midazolam, and alprazolam, between September 2020 and March of the following year. Additionally, he was accused of attempting to destroy evidence and pressuring associates to use marijuana.
Despite the controversy surrounding his personal life, Yoo Ah-in’s appearance in ‘Goodbye Earth’ remains highly anticipated. The series is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on April 26, offering viewers a unique and captivating storyline amidst the actor’s ongoing legal and public scrutiny.
