EPEX premiered a story film video for their upcoming first full-length album “Digestion (韶華) Chapter 1: Youth” on their official YouTube channel at midnight.
The story film delves into the raw emotions and real-life experiences of the members as they navigate through their youth. It features scenes like A-min standing alone in front of a birthday cake and Baek Seung and Ayden working late-night part-time jobs. The video also includes thought-provoking questions such as “Why haven’t we talked lately? Have you been busy since turning 20?” accompanied by answers like “Sorry, I’ve been swamped,” narrated in a tone that evokes a sense of solitude.
The members’ emotional journey between friendship and inner turmoil is depicted through poignant lines like “When I see you again, I want to confirm if it was real or just a dream” and “I often reminisce about the times we used to hang out.” Additionally, a mysterious elderly man appears as a narrator in the first half, hinting at hidden secrets among the main characters with lines like “When everything fell apart, I encountered a profoundly transparent being. Can you believe what I’m telling you?”
Following the album release, EPEX is set to perform at “K-CON Japan 2024” on May 11. This marks their reunion with local fans after their successful solo festival tour “So We Are Not Anxious” in Japan last month, featuring 10 shows across five cities. The group’s recent collaborative album “Peppermint Yum” soared to the top of Japan’s Oricon Daily Album Chart and Billboard Japan’s Weekly Hot Albums Chart, highlighting their continued global impact.
“Digestion (韶華) Chapter 1: Youthful Years” marks the beginning of EPEX’s Youth Trilogy album series. With all members transitioning into adulthood this year, including 2005-born Yewang, Jeff, and Ayden turning 20, the album promises to deliver heartfelt stories that resonate with honesty and purity, encapsulating the glorious essence of youth. Scheduled for release on April 9 at 6 p.m. KST, fans can anticipate an immersive journey through the youthful experiences of EPEX.
