Could you please introduce yourself to our readers?
Hello, I’m a rookie actor, Bae Inhyuk. I was born in 1998, and I made my debut in 2019 with the web movie “Love Buzz.” I’ve also appeared in web dramas such as “XX” and “Kiss Goblin,” as well as MBC’s “The Spies Who Loved Me,” tvN’s “My Roommate is a Gumiho,” and KBS2TV’s “At a Distance, Spring Is Green.”
How did you decide to become an actor?
I’ve always enjoyed watching TV since I was young. In middle school, I began contemplating my dreams and future. During this time, my closest friend decided to enter an art high school, sparking my curiosity about life in dramas and movies. I convinced my parents, initially opposed, to support me. Despite the initial resistance, they witnessed my dedication and allowed me to transfer to an art high school. They are now my biggest supporters.
What is your favorite movie or drama, and why?
I like the movie “Man In Love.” Not only because I admire Hwang Jung-min, but also because the film portrays the sincere and awkward expressions of a man in love, making it a deeply resonant and enduring piece for me.
Do you have any memorable experiences from the set of “My Roommate is a Gumiho”:
Every moment during the filming of “My Roommate is a Gumiho” is memorable. Particularly, the cold weather and the warmth from my older co-stars, who took care of me as the youngest on set, made the filming enjoyable. I especially remember when Hye-ri gifted me a heated vest, keeping me warm throughout the shoot.
If you could make one change to Sunwoo’s character, what would it be?
There were many aspects of Sunnwoo’s character that I found regrettable. Among them, I wanted to dye my hair to match the original webtoon, but due to scheduling conflicts with other projects, I couldn’t. It’s a bit disappointing as I think I could have shown a more vibrant version of Sunwoo if the situation allowed.
Were there any challenges during the filming of “At a Distance, Spring Is Green”:
The character I played, Soo-hyun, is somewhat weary of life and has a sharp personality, so I decided to go on a diet to create a more delicate appearance. Coming straight from the filming of “My Roommate is a Gumiho” to “At a Distance, Spring Is Green” with not much time for rest, losing around 6kg was a bit challenging. However, I believe it helped me portray Soo-hyun’s atmosphere better.
Are there any similarities between you and the character Soo-hyun?
Although I enjoy socializing and have an outgoing personality, unlike Soo-hyun, I share a strong sense of responsibility towards my family. Being the eldest with a younger brother, I can relate to Soo-hyun’s feelings of responsibility.
What is your dream role as an actor?
I’d like to try roles in crime or thriller genres with a lot of action scenes. I’ve always enjoyed exercising, and I think the process of learning professional action scenes and the sweaty moments during filming would be enjoyable.
Is there anyone specific you would like to work with in the future?
My role models are actors Lee Jehoon and Hwang Jung-min. Although different, both have charisma, and I’d love to work on a project with them.
Are there any variety shows you would like to appear on?
I enjoy various variety shows like “I Live Alone,” “Running Man,” “Knowing Bros,” and “New Journey to the West.” If given the chance, I would love to appear on any of these shows.
How do you relieve stress?
On days off, I like to go for a drive or visit the seaside. Hearing the sound of waves and looking at the ocean gives me a refreshing feeling, and it helps to relieve stress.
Do you have any special skills?
Since I enjoyed playing soccer with friends since childhood, I think my sports skills are somewhat decent.
Can you share some advice for aspiring actors?
While I still have a lot to learn and grow as an actor, facing the challenges head-on and not losing courage when confronted with the walls of reality are crucial. I hope everyone pursuing the same dream can find the strength and courage to break through those barriers and rise again.
Finally, is there a message you would like to convey to your current and future fans?
I believe the best way to repay the overwhelming love and support is to present good works and show improvement. I will continue to strive for growth, so please continue to support me! I sincerely thank you all. Despite the challenging times, I hope everyone maintains a positive and happy mindset and stays healthy!
We look forward to witnessing his continued success and growth in the Korean entertainment industry!
